If you want to drive traffic to your website, learn how to market on Twitter. Twitter is an easy-to-use social networking site that allows users to post 140 characters called 'tweets'.  When used correctly, these tweets can help attract new customers, advertise products or services, and earn you money.

To market on Twitter, you will need:

• An active Twitter account
• Website, product or service you want to market
• Followers that will see your Twitter posts

1. Post links. An obvious way to learn how to market on Twitter is by posting links. Which links you decide to post will depend on what you are trying to achieve. If you are a writer, you will obviously want to post links to the articles you write. If you are a businessman, you will want to post links to your company website, or to the products you sell. Post links frequently throughout the course of the day to maximize your exposure.
2. Join groups. To learn how to market on Twitter effectively, you'll want to join Twitter groups. Join groups that share a similar interest with what you are trying to market. For example, if you sell custom furniture, you will want to join interior decorating groups, home improvement groups, decorating and design groups, and so on. 
3. Follow others. One way to get followers on Twitter is for you to follow a lot of people yourself. The more people that follow you on Twitter, the more people that will see your Twitter posts. The more people that see your Twitter posts, the more chances you'll have at having someone retweet your links.
4. Retweet. When you retweet another person's content, the more you increase the chance that they will do the same for you. Thus, by retweeting, you can potentially increase the amount of people that will have access to your links and/or posts. It's always a good idea to be a helpful follower to others, as they will return the favor.
5. Use hashtags. Finally, you can learn how to market on Twitter by learning how to use hashtags. When using hashtags on Twitter, you are essentially adding your tweet to a category, or group of tweets. This way, tweets with the same subject matter can easily be grouped together, making it easy for others to find it. 

Remember, it's not enough to learn how to market on Twitter. You'll have to be diligent about your postings, so that others will become familiar with your content.  To be effective, you'll want to post every day, several times a day, at different times of the day.
