You can learn how to massage your own sinuses to help relieve pressure. When you get sinus pressure, it can cause a feeling of pressure or tightness in the face, around the nose, and under the eyes. It can be quite painful at times and nagging. If you learn how to massage these areas, you can help to alleviate some of the discomfort. Studies have shown that sinus massages can help to relieve pressure in the face and around the nose. In order to do a sinus massage, it doesn't require much, just your fingers. If you want to place warm, moist heat over the affected area first, this can also help to bring relief.

  1. First, place your hands over your face with your middle finger just in the groove under the cheekbone. This will entail having one finger on either side of your nose.
  2. While you are breathing in, apply gentle pressure with your finger and hold to a count of five. When you exhale, gradually let up on the pressure, releasing your finger.

  3. Next, move your fingers along your cheekbones and towards your ears. Apply the same pressure counting to five, and release the pressure.

  4. Now, move your fingers to between your eyebrows and apply the same pressure. Hold to a count of five.

  • When you are finished with the massage, you can end the massage with more warm moist heat. You can give yourself this massage as many times in a day as you need. It is a massage that is easy and does not require any special training or special oils; just your fingers and a few minutes of your time.
