By keeping some basic guidelines in mind, you can learn how to measure a golf putter. Using an accurately sized putter can help improve your short game, and make you a more effective golfer. Just don't tell your friends how you chose the putter–or they'll be asking you for golf club sizing advise!
- Stand up straight on a hard surface. Ask a friend to use a tape measure to determine the distance between the floor and your belly button. This measurement should be recorded in inches. In order to achieve best results, take several measurement and average them–this will provide you with the most accurate reading.
- Once the average of all of the readings has been obtained, subtract two inches. Repeat the calculation just to ensure that your math is correct.
- When trying to find a putter that is right for your size, keep the prior measurement in mind. Bring a tape measure to a golf equipment or sporting goods store, and select a putter that you are interested in. Place one end of the measuring tape at the bottom of the putter, and extend to the top of the grip. The distance between these two points should be as close as possible to the distance measured earlier.
- Try out a few golf clubs before making a final decision. Even though the club may fit your measurement, it may still feel not quite right. Experiment until you find the club that works best for you. You'll be sinking the putt in no time!
