How To Measure Ski Helmet Size
If you are shopping for a ski helmet for your next ski trip, you will first need to know how to measure ski helmet size. To do this you will need to measure your head using a measuring tape. Helmet size is typically measured in centimeters, although some manufacturer's have a conversion chart for both inches and centimeters.
-
If possible, obtain a flexible measuring tape which shows measurements in centimeters. If you're unable to get measuring tape with centimeters marked on it, you may need to know how to convert inches to centimeters. For reference, one inch equals 2.54 cm.
-
Stand at a mirror with your measuring tape so that you can easily read the the measurement given on the tape. Ideally, you'll have a friend help you measure your head size, but if one is unavailable, a mirror is the next best thing!
-
Take the measuring tape and wrap it around your head, just above your eyebrows. The measuring tape should fit snugly against your head. Check that the measuring tape doesn't pinch your skin or feel too tight against your head.
-
Get a reading. Either have your friend read the measurement from the measuring tape, or look at the mirror to obtain the measurement.
-
Check the manufacturer's size chart. This way you can take the measurement in centimeters and convert that to a ski helmet size. It's important to check the measurements against the chart for each individual ski helmet company. Just because you're a medium for one company doesn't mean you'll be a size medium for all ski helmet manufacturers.
