- Hop off a jump and bend your knees. You jump a little while in the air while trying to melon grab. You could do this easily by applying as much upward force as possible on your body. It is the same as trying to jump while on the ground, except you'll be in the air. Doing this will allow you to not have to reach down at all. That is the magic of it when you bend your knees. You are to never have to reach down or it will look almost like you are messing up on the trick.
- Grab behind your front leg with your hand. Your front leg should be far out, then bend your back. This will help you to be able to reach your front leg without straining too hard. Straining too hard could stretch a tendon. Make sure your legs are bent. Bent legs are the only correct way to melon grab to some people.
- Extend leg and bring in your opposite leg. You need to complete this step while you are landing after the melon grab. Doing this step wrong can result in injury, so take your time. You should land smoothly. Also, ensure that not one of your legs are bent. Your legs should be steady and not bent to the side. Trying to land with bent legs could result in a tragic injury.
