Do you want to know how to mount snowboard bindings? The simple operation of mounting bindings to the snowboard can determine if you are going to have a lot of safe fun, or suffer a painful fall. Just imagine yourself sliding down the hill, and suddenly feeling one of your feet detach from the snowboard. Scary, isn´t it? Well, the only way to avoid that is by carefully installing your bindings to your snowboard.

What you need to mount snowboard bindings:

  • Screwdrivers, one flathead and one Philips, size big.
  • Screws that match the board´s nuts.
  • A work bench.

Steps to mount snowboard bindings:

  1. Place the snowboard on the work bench.
  2. Locate the binding´s plate, if there´s one. Newer bindings have a device that attaches the binding to the board through a rail. In this case, locate the rail attachment.
  3. Try the screws in the snowboards nuts, without the plate. The screws, adjusted by hand, should not touch the bottom of the nut cage leaving more than the height of the plate above the surface. If the screws are too long they will tend to damage the board when tightened. So, don´t take chances, and use washers to shorten the screw´s reach.
  4. Place the bindings over the nuts area.
  5. Put the plates in place and make the holes in the plate match with the nuts on the board.
  6. Insert the screws and tighten them manually. At first, avoid using screwdrivers until you are sure that the screws are going in the nut straight and true, not to damage the nut´s thread, that will cause the need for major snowboard repair.
  7. Regulate the binding´s incidence angle to the desired point before tightening the screws.
  8. Give every screw a final tightening following a cross sequence. This is to equalize forces and prevent movement of the plate.

Remember that any repair or adjustment made at home is easier than up the hill, so don´t take chances and adjust your gear carefully at home or at a shop before you head up. That's it! You have now learned how to mount snowboard bindings.
