How Much To Feed A Kitten
Do you have a new addition to the family and need to know how much to feed a kitten? You have come to the right place. Kittens need certain amounts of food daily for them to grow the way they should, just like babies. They also need twice the nutrients that adult cats need. Usually people will start their kittens out on canned food before turning them over to dry cat food. As they get older you can mix some dry cat food with the canned food. Kittens usually like and prefer this. If your kitten has special needs talk with your vet about diet. He can suggest what will be best for your kitten. Here are basic guidelines to feed your kitten to keep them healthy.
Steps
- Beginning at six weeks old your kitten needs four or more little meals spaced throughout the day. Making sure to give plenty of water with each meal. Kittens are still young and at this age require more feedings.
- By the beginning of twelve weeks of age kittens need three meals. Increase the amount of food with each meal. Remember you have lessened the feeding so give a little more food.
- By six months of age feedings should be twice a day. Morning and evening feedings are best. Increase the food a little more since you are down to twice a day. Make sure to have fresh water out for your kitten at all times.
