How To Not Be Shy

Use the following tips so you can learn how to not be shy. Shyness can interfere with the things you want to do in life. You will miss a lot of great opportunities if you let your shyness consume you. You will open a whole new door of possibilities by learning how to not be shy. You will be more willing to ask someone on date, make new friends or ask for a promotion at work. It's a great feeling when you can finally overcome this social fear.

  1. Figure out what triggers your shyness. Everyone experiences shyness in different ways. To learn how to not be shy, you must determine what triggers it. Does it happen when there is a large group of people? Are you uncomfortable when meeting a new individual?  Once you figure out the underlying cause, you can begin to change your ways of thinking.
  2. Don't Take Things Personally. One of the most important things when you're learning how to not be shy is to shrug things off. If you were rejected when you asked someone on a date, don't take it personally. Some things aren't meant to be. It's hard to be social and open with others when you know rejection is a possibility. However, everyone deals with it at one point or another. If you don't take things personally, you will have an easier time remaining confident in social situations.
  3. Find your strengths. If you want to learn how to not be shy, find out what your strengths are. For instance, if you’re quiet, maybe you’re a good listener. Knowing your strengths will boost your self-esteem, as well as your ego. Rather than dwelling on the things you’re not good at, focus your time and energy on areas in which you excel.
  4. Don’t label yourself. If you call yourself a shy person, you’re going to feel inclined to live up to the label. Not only that, but you will also feel like you have to live up to the label if other people think you’re a shy person. The best thing to do is get rid of the labels. You are more likely to be outgoing if you don’t refer to yourself as a shy person.
  5. Don’t try to conform. When figuring out how to not be shy, make sure you’re not trying to conform to others. It’s best to be yourself. Trying to fit in can be exhausting. If you embrace being your own person, you will have more confidence. Confidence is one of the most important factors when it comes to not being shy.
