Learn how to one inch punch so that you can impress your friends, increase your punch power, and improve upon your overall punching skills. The one inch punch was made famous by Bruce Lee and is a very quick and powerful blow capable of causing real damage from little to no distance from the target. Learning how to one inch punch will require a lot of time and dedication to your training.

To one inch punch, you will need:

  • A fist
  • Core body strength
  • Muscle control
  • Lots of practice
  • An instructor
  1. Before you work on the one inch punch you need to increase your strength and speed. Do exercises that increase the strength of your biceps, triceps, forearms, and shoulders without sacrificing speed. Work on your core, chest, back, and leg strength as well. You will need to have total body control to be effective at the one inch punch.
  2. Practice doing the one inch punch on small breakable boards. Before doing the one inch punch, simply try breaking a board or more with a regular punch. Work your way closer and closer to the boards until you are an inch away, and then start practicing from there. This will give you a way to test the power of your one inch punch. You can train your arms to punch quickly and then test their power on the boards from an inch away. The more boards you can break through, the more power you have.
  3. Work on improving your punching technique. Practice punching and using your whole body instead of just your arms. Feel the power come from your hips and legs and then move through your arms as you punch. The better your technique is, the faster and more powerful your one inch punch will be.
  4. Seek a martial arts professional trainer and work with him or her. Trainers will be able to show you the best methods of increasing your punch speed and power, and they will be able to give you exercises to do for the close range that the one inch punch requires.
