How To Open A Beer With Lighter
Learning how to open a beer bottle with a lighter takes only a few minutes. When you learn how to do it right, it can be just as easy as using an actual bottle opener. Following is a description of the process.
All that is needed to perform this task is:
- Beer bottle
-
Lighter
- Hold the beer bottle in your left hand so that you are grasping the bottle around its neck. Hold the bottle upright and firmly. Your thumb should be on the inside of the bottle's neck (facing you) and the rest of your fingers should be wrapped around the outside of the bottle, meeting your thumb on the right side of the bottle's neck from your perspective.
- In your right hand, hold the lighter sideways so that its top points to the right and its bottom faces the left. Insert the bottom of the lighter between your left pointer finger toward the top of the bottle's neck and the bottle's top. Squeeze tightly with your left hand so that the lighter's bottom presses against the side of the bottle neck above your finger and below the cap of the beer bottle.
- With your left hand remaining firm as you grasp the bottle, crank your right hand down, making the lighter's top go down to the right, its bottom to the left, and under the beer bottle's top go up. Squeezing firmly enough with your left hand on the bottle will force the cap off of the beer. This works because your left fingers prevent the lighter from moving down the bottle's neck when you turn down with your right hand, making it so that its bottom must go up, pushing the cap up.
Seeing someone do this can make it easier to get it down, but opening a beer bottle with a lighter is not very hard and it can certainly be handy knowledge when no bottle openers are available.
