How To Open Microsoft Word

Do you need to know how to open Microsoft Word in order to use the word processing software? Microsoft Word is a popular word processing application and a great resource for the preparation of business and home documents. Using Microsoft Word simplifies the way to handle correspondence and manage routine and detailed tasks. 

To open Microsoft Word, you will need:

  • Your personal computer
  • Microsoft Windows operating system (XP, Vista or 7)
  • Microsoft Word

To start Microsoft Word in Windows Vista, follow these steps:

  1. Start up your desktop. Turn the power on and wait for your computer to boot up.
  2. Click the “Start” button on the taskbar. Click “All Programs” on the menu that appears.
  3. Select and click “Microsoft Office.” Then, select and click “Microsoft Office Word 2007.” A blank document will then appear for your use.
  4. If you have a shortcut to access Microsoft Word on your desktop, double click the “Microsoft Office Word 2007” shortcut. A blank document will then appear for you to use.

To start Microsoft Word in Windows XP, follow these steps:

  1. Start up your desktop. Click the “Start” button on the taskbar.
  2. Click “All Programs” on the taskbar. Select and click “Microsoft Word.” A blank document will then appear for you to use.
  3. If you have a shortcut to access Microsoft Word on your desktop, double click the “Microsoft Word” shortcut. A blank document will then appear for you to use.
