Learning how to open a new savings account at Bank of America is easy. Bank of America offers a Growth Money Market account savings for account balances of $5,000 as well as the Regular Savings account with no maintenance fees as with balances of $300. Opening an account online requires the use of your computer and about five to ten minutes of your time.

  1. Go to your favorite search engine and type in Bank of America. Once you reach the Bank of America web site look under the product and services heading, select savings and CD options. This page offers comparisons between the Regular savings and the Money Market savings account.
  2.  View the Compare Savings and CD accounts page to determine which one is best. Once you select the appropriate account click the open now link to the right of the account summary. Here you will see the savings account application.
  3. Consider adding other options along with your savings account. After you select which savings account you prefer, the system will ask if you would like to open either a My Access checking account or participate in the Keep the Change program. The Keep the Change program rounds off all purchases made with a Visa Check card and will transfer the difference from your checking to your savings. There is no minimum balance on the Regular savings if you select both options. So it is well worth it.
  4. Complete the online application.  Fill out the requested information such as your Social Security number, address, and email along with the account information from the bank you’ll be using to deposit money in this account.
  5. Chat online with a representative if you still have questions. A chat representative will request to assist you if you have problems or have been on the site too long. The immediate feedback from a Bank of America representative streamlines the process.

Opening a new savings account at Bank of America requires little time. The web site is easy to navigate and the added chat assistance makes opening a new savings account a cinch.
