If you're looking to up the excitement quota for a fast craps game, you must learn how to place prop bets in craps! The prop bets (also known as proposition bets) may not be the smartest moves you'll ever make (the odds are with the casino), but they'll be the most fun you'll have while playing craps.

To place prop bets in craps, you will need to:

  1. Understand what prop bets are. The prop bets are the bets that are in the middle of the craps table, in front of the stickman. There are basically two types of prop bets: the hardways bets which are good for more than one roll and the only one roll bets.
  2. Understand the hardways bets. The hardways bets are bets that you place that the doubles (the same number will appear on both dice) will appear for a four, six, eight or ten before any other combination of numbers appear. For example, if you place a $5 hardways six, you're betting that two threes will appear before any other combination making a six appears (one and five or two and four). The odds are listed under each hardways bet.
  3. Understand the one roll bets. The area closest to the stickman are the one roll bets - they're good only for the next roll after you place them. The payoff is higher than the hardways because these bets are only good for one roll. You can bet that a two, three, eleven, twelve or any combination of those numbers will come in.
  4. To place prop bets in craps, simply throw your chips to the stickman and call your bet. The proper language to use is something like "$5 hard six" or "$5 Yo" (a "Yo" is an eleven).

Warning:

While the prop bets in craps are some of the most fun, exciting bets you'll make, they can get quite expensive so be careful when placing these bets.
