How To Plan A Beach Wedding

If you are getting married at an ocean, lake, or other body of water, you will need to know how to plan a beach wedding. There are some things that must be considered for planning beach weddings that may not have to be thought about when planning weddings at other venues.

To plan a beach wedding, you will need:

  • Luggage
  • Wedding supplies, as desired
  • Sunscreen
  • Water
  1. The first thing you will have to do is decide which beach you want to be married at. Some suggestions are the Outer Banks of North Carolina, the Caribbean, Mexico, California, or Florida. Once you have decided where you will have your beach wedding, you will want to find out if a permit is required, how many guests can be accommodated, if a tent can be pitched,  if smoking or alcohol are allowed, if bonfires are allowed, and the tide schedule.
  2. If you will be traveling a great distance for your beach wedding you will want to limit the amount of things you purchase for your wedding day. The more stuff you buy, the more you have to pack. Begin planning how you will transport items well before you are scheduled to leave. If you will have a wedding party travelling with you, delegate them to help with transporting the wedding gear.
  3. Make sure the bride schedules hair and make-up appointments far in advance. This guarantees her a spot, and provides plenty of time to find a look that will work for the type of weather you may be getting married in. Grooms should also have their hair trimmed prior to the wedding.
  4. Wear sunscreen on your wedding day. A sun burn can put a damper on your wedding ceremony and honeymoon.
  5. Arrive to your beach wedding location early on the day of the wedding to set up. This way you can avoid the stress of being rushed to get things ready before guests arrive.
