School is out and it is time to plan for a summer vacation. There are so many places to go and events to attend that it can be a little overwhelming at first.

  1. Make a list of where you would like to go. If you already know, you are ahead of the game. If not, just spend sometime thinking about it. Depending on the resources you have, decide one one large trip, multiple small trips or just day trips that can be done throughout the summer vacation.
  2. Research the summer vacation. Look for the best time of summer to travel and the cost of lodging and food. Next, look into the best ways to get there and decide what works best for you.
  3. Choose the date. This can be difficult when planning a vacation with multiple people or families so start with some dates in mind that will work for you using the researched information. Also, decided on the length of time the vacation will last. Take into consideration why you are going and what you are going to be doing while there.
  4. Make reservations. If you have already checking into prices, begin to book a place to stay and a way to get there. If you are planning on driving your own vehicle, be sure that all of the maintenance is up to date before driving away on the summer vacation. If other people are going too, be sure to email them the confirmation numbers so they know what is going on.
  5. Decide on the attractions or events that you will be going to see. Start looking into admission tickets or concert tickets that you will need before you go. Remember, usually it is more price effective to purchase these in advance. If you are headed to a place with an unpredictable climate, make a back up plan just in case. Look for things that can be done indoors or in a city close by.
  6. Pack up everything you are going to need. Think about checking into the weather and bring the necessary clothing. It can't hurt to pack a few extra things in the suitcase, for just in case. If traveling by plane, bring headphones for the movie or a book to read. If driving with friends, pack some games that can be played in the car or your favorite music to listen to while driving.
  7. Enjoy the time away from school and work. As you head out on your summer vacation, leave it all behind and take advantage of the time away. Taking the time to plan for a summer vacation will make it more enjoyable for you and everyone involved.
