Want to learn how to play Mahjong solo? Mahjong is a game that looks fairly easy, but it's not. You would have to play the game with a certain technique. Even the best of Mahjong players do not win every game. When you are playing alone, it is a little easier. You will not have to play after someone else's bad play. Here are some tips on how to play the game solo.
- Start the game off trying to eliminate the tile on the top tier. No matter what game board you might be playing (Mahjong has the Turtle, Dragon, Cat, Fortress, Crab, and Spider), always aim to find a match for the first tier tile(s). This is so it will increase your chances of finding matches throughout the game when playing solo. If you fail to aim for the top tier in the middle/beginning of the game, then when you get to the end you won't have many matches. They would be buried under the first two top tiers. Even if you cannot get to the top tier right away, then get to it as soon as you can.
- Think wisely and take your time. When you are playing Mahjong solo, you have all the time in the world to make a clear decision. Mahjong is a game that makes an individual think. At some point in the game, you will come across tiles that have more than matches for them. Your job is to think wisely about what tiles to eliminate to uncover the most useful tiles for the up and coming moves.
- Know the rules. When you are playing Mahjong solo, you have to know the rules and the point system. The flowers are worth more points, but the other tiles are worth only one point in the beginning of the game. But each time you eliminate that kind of tile, their point value increases by 1. So, the more you progress throughout the game, the more points you acquire. Knowing the rules when you are playing solo prevents you from getting confused and abandoning the game. Also, remember that you can only match tiles that are identical to each other. Plus, only two could be matched each move. Flowers are the only tiles that do not look alike, but could be eliminated together.
- Do not try to cheat yourself. In every solo game some people may try to cheat themselves in fear of losing. If we cheat ourselves in the game, then it would prevent us from learning new things about the game. Every great player had to practice and challenge themselves. So, if you run out of matches, then it is okay. Just try to aim for the highest points. If you challenge an opponent the points will determine the winner. Winners are not based on who cleared the most tiles . So, relax if you do not clear the board.
