Interested in learning how to pour beer properly? Man has been brewing and serving beer for thousands of years. You'd think every modern man at least would know how to pour a glass the right way, yet few aside from experienced bartenders and waiters know the secret. Find out how to pour beer with confidence once and for all.

To pour a beer properly you will need:

  • A chilled glass
  • Cold beer
  • Steady hands
  1. Ready your tools. All you need to pour a beer into a glass is the beer and the glass, right? Well, sort of. If you want to do it smoothly, the whole bottle into one glass, you will need to chill the glass first and start with a cold beer. Put your tools in the refrigerator for a good twenty to thirty minutes.
  2. Tilt the glass. Now that you are ready to pour a beer, you can start. Hold the glass with your secondary hand, tilting it slightly towards the beer. From an upright position, tilt 30 degrees. So if you are right handed the glass is in the left hand, tilted 30 degrees to the right.
  3. Join the bottle and the glass. Before actually pouring the beer, you have to introduce the glass to the bottle (or can). With glass tilted, bring the head of the bottle to the edge of the glass so it touches.
  4. Pour. Now you are ready for the smooth, perfect, pour. Slowly tilt the bottle letting the beer flow in. There will be foam, but because you know how to pour beer properly it will not overflow over the edge of the glass. Now toss the bottle in the recycling, drink (or serve) and enjoy.
