Alzheimer’s is not a curable disease by any means, but you may still be interested in knowing how to prevent Alzheimer's. Once it has been diagnosed, there is little that can be done to reverse the effects. However, there are ways to slow down the progression of it, or to help prevent it starting in the first place.

  1. First, it’s good to realize if you are at risk. Some people may have a stronger predisposition towards developing Alzheimer’s. One of the strongest risk factors is having a family history of Alzheimer’s as it is a highly genetic disease.
  2. Certain vitamins could prove beneficial to slowing Alzheimer’s. Folic acid, B12 and B6 vitamins have shown positive results in the slowing of Alzheimer’s progression, because they decrease the levels of homocysteine in the body. Homecysteine has been shown to increase the chance of developing Alzheimer’s.
  3. High blood pressure is a strong risk factor for Alzheimer’s. An improvement of 55 percent in the slowing of Alzheimer’s was shown in people over 60 who got treatment for their high blood pressure.
  4. An increase in exercise is a good idea in any case. As well as helping with numerous other health conditions and the overall quality of life, it has been shown to help slow Alzheimer’s by allowing neurons to fire more easily.

Alzheimer’s can be prevented like most other disease that are in the world. By keeping your mind and body active and healthy, many diseases can be prevented. With diseases kept at bay, you will have more time to focus on improving the details of your life, leading to a more full and complete existence.
