How To Prevent Spider Veins
Many people want to learn how to prevent spider veins, or vericose veins, because they can cause red and blue, enlarged veins to appear. These enlarged veins can become twisted or begin to bulge overtime. Spider veins are typically found on the legs, vagina, and buttocks. While spider veins may look similar to varicose veins, they are actually two different conditions.
- Living a healthy lifestyle is vital in order to prevent spider veins. Exercising the legs regularly is essential because it increase the circulation to the legs, which increases vein strength. Simple activities, such as walking or running, will prevent spider veins. Regular exercise also promotes a healthy weight. Maintaining a healthy weight also prevents spider veins because excess weight adds strain to the legs, which produces spider veins.
- Sitting properly and for limited periods of time will also help prevent spider veins. Sitting for prolonged periods of time causes a decrease in circulation to the legs. The same goes for standing. If you must stand for prolonged periods of time make sure to shift your weight from one leg to the other every 30 minutes. Also, when sitting, never sit with your legs crossed. Sitting with your legs crossed causes a decrease in circulation, which of course results in spider veins.
- Treat your legs well to prevent spider veins from occurring. In order to treat your legs well you must limit how often you wear high heels. Wearing high heals limit’s the blood flow to the calf muscles. Low heeled shoes makes the blood flow more freely and even tones the calf muscles. If you have worn high heels, it’s important to take the time to elevate your legs. Elevating your legs will assist with replenishing the proper blood flow to the legs.
Despite learning how to prevent spider veins, if you suspect you may have some it is important to see a doctor if you notice any veins that have become swollen, red, or painful to touch. See a doctor if sores develop on the veins or if the skin color changes or thickens.
