Need to know how to pull the end cap out of Combat softball bats? By keeping some basic guidelines in mind, you can remove the end cap from a Combat softball bat. Removing the end cap will allow you to shave your softball bat, which will allow for a greater hitting distance. Though end caps aren't designed to be removed, with care and patience you can take the end cap off of your bat.
To remove the end cap from your Combat softball bat, you will need:
- A blow dryer or heat gun
- A screwdriver
- A hammer or other object used to apply force
- Use a blow dryer or heat gun to blow hot air at the end of the softball bat for approximately ten minutes. Hot air will make the wood expand, allowing for greater ease when removing the end cap. However, if the softball bat is made from aluminum, you can skip this step.
- Place the tip of a flathead screwdriver in between the body of the softball bat and the end cap. Carefully try to pry these two pieces apart. If you experience difficulty, tap the end of the screwdriver with a hammer or other hard object to apply some force. Don't hit the screwdriver too hard, however, as this could cause serious damage to the bat. Slowly and carefully, pry the end cap free from the bat. You may have to loosen several spots on the end cap before it will completely come free. For example, you may have to loosen one spot, and then a spot on the opposite side of the end cap. Make sure the cap is easily removed. If you try to force the cap to come off, you may cause damage to both the softball bat and the end cap.
