How To Put A Cricket Grip On

Learning how to put a cricket grip on is important for several reasons. The grip of a cricket bat is essential to help players hold onto the bat and often becomes worn with high amounts of use. Before changing a cricket grip, be sure to examine the bat closely in order to make sure that it is worth putting a new grip on. In some cases, it may be better to simply purchase a new bat than to spend the time replacing the grip.

Things you'll need:

  • Cricket bat
  • Grip and grip applicator
  1. Place the grip application on the bottom of the handle of the cricket bat. Next, place the new grip on top of the grip applicator. The new grip should be wrapped up tightly upon itself and should appear in the shape of a donut. Ideally, the center hole of the new grip should be very close in size to that of the bottom of the handle of the cricket bat.
  2. Push the new grip over the applicator and slide it onto the base of the cricket bat handle. At this point, the applicator can be discarded or saved for use at a later time.
  3. Carefully slide the grip up the length of the cricket bat handle. Be sure to take your time at this point, trying to get the grip as smooth as possible and preventing any possible air bubbles. Use a credit card to smooth out the grip as much as possible.
  4. Test the grip out. If it needs to be adjusted, roll the grip down and off the handle of the bat, reversing the steps described above. Start over from step one, being sure to move slowly.
