Being able to accomplish simple task, is necessary. Most skateboards have bottom designed and the deck is left blank or covered in grip tape. This is a definite need as the grip tape is there not only for safety but also to increase you ability to ride.

Things you will need:

  • Skateboard
  • Scissors
  • Marker, pen or pencil
  • Roll of grip tape
  • X-acto knife
  1. Unroll the grip tape and lay it down on a flat surface, grip side down. Now, lay the skateboard with the deck down (wheels facing upward). Trace on the back of the unrolled grip tape, completely around the skateboard.
  2. Remove the skateboard and set it aside. With a pair of scissors cut out just inside the line you traced around the skateboard. Remove the roll of grip tape and place the skateboard on the flat surface.
  3. Starting at the nose, carefully pull back about three inches, exposing the sticky side of the grip tape. Place it on the nose of the skateboard. With your hand, tap the grip tape into place. Move down the skateboard with your hand on the skateboard and the other pulling the backing off the grip tape.
  4. Work all the way to the heel of the skateboard. Use your hand to guide the grip tape down and ensure full contact. Run your hands from nose to heel over the skateboard pushing the grip tape down the seal the connection. Use the X-acto knife to clear away any excess of voer the sides grip tape.
