Part of the Christmas experience includes learning how to put lights on a Christmas tree. This is something that you can easily pass down from generation to generation. Stores have professional Christmas decorators to come in and put lights on a Christmas tree for them. Unfortunately not everyone can hire a tree decorated. Either way you can easily put lights on your Christmas tree yourself. It may not look as nice as the store's but its the thought that counts, right? Here are a few steps that will help you to put lights on a Christmas tree.

To put lights on a Christmas tree, you will need:

  • Christmas tree
  • extension cords
  • ladders
  • clear tree lights
  • colorful tree lights
  1. Plug the lights into a power outlet to make sure that they work. You want to avoid having any dead lights on your tree and you can do this by testing the lights beforehand. If there are any dead bulbs just go ahead and unscrew the bulb and replace it with a new one. Once you are done with this unplug the lights.
  2. Start with the clear tree lights. Make sure that the end of the lights that connects to an outlet is near an outlet once you begin to hang the lights. Circle the tree until the whole set of clear lights are on the tree. As you circle your tree go up a level so that the clear lights cover the tree from top to bottom. You can use a ladder to access the higher portion of the tree.
  3. Finish with the colorful tree lights. Adding color to a Christmas tree is always a big plus. Wrap this set of lights around the tree while moving up a level so that the whole tree is covered in colorful lights. Be sure to use extension cords if you need to. Connect both set of lights to a power outlet and see how the finished product looks.

Putting lights on a Christmas tree is something that can be a whole lot of fun and it can easily become a family tradition.
