As with many elements of the iPhone, how to put music on your iPhone 3G may not be entirely obvious from the beginning. Luckily, while not as easy and functional as a Droid or even an iPod, it isn't incredibly difficult to get your own music onto the iPhone's internal storage. All you need is your iPhone, iTunes, and some music!
- The Playlist. First, select "File" and then "New Playlist." Create a playlist that you will be using to sync with your iPhone 3G. Naming it something easily recognizable as to not be confused with your other playlists is a good idea. "1. iTunes Sync" is a good bet.
- Drag and drop. Now fill your playlist with whatever music you are going to want on your iPhone 3G. The amount of room you have will obviously differe depending on the size of your iPhone, so always be wary of how much space you have left. At the very bottom of the iTunes window in your playlist it will show you the size of the actual playlist before you even add any music to your iPhone 3G.
- Plug it in. Now plug your iPhone into your computer if you haven't already. Wait for it to pop up under devices and it should show you all the information of your iPhone. Click on the "Music" tab in that summary page and check the "Sync Music" box. Now you will see an option for syncing playlists, so choose the playlist you just made and click "Sync.". Voila! Your playlist will now be present on your iPhone 3G. The best thing is that you can edit your playlist, delete songs, or add songs at anytime, and when you plug your iPhone 3G back in to your computer it will sync it again automatically. Pretty convenient!
