How To Put On A Tie Clip
If you are a professional business man or need to dress up for a special occasion, you need to know how to put on a tie clip. Wearing a tie can be aggravating if the tie is not secured in place by a tie clip or tack. With a clip, the tie can either be secured to your shirt or the two ends of the tie can be secured together. Either way the tie clip helps you look more put together and well groomed.
In order to put on a tie clip you will need:
- Tie
- Tie clip
- Button-down dress shirt
- Choose a tie and a shirt to wear. The shirt needs to have strong buttons on it. With cheaper shirts the buttons aren't always sewn on as tight. The buttons need to be able to withhold a little strain if you are clipping the tie to the shirt. The tie should match the shirt. Make sure you choose colors that compliment each other. Also, when you put on a tie clip, it can damage the tie if the tie is not made out of strong enough fabric.
- Choose a tie clip. If you are wearing jewelry or cuff links, try choosing a tie clip with similar metals.
- Put on the shirt and tie. Put on the shirt first, button all of the buttons and make sure they are straight after you tuck the shirt into your pants. Then tie the tie making sure that the back tail doesn't show behind the front tail.
- Secure the tie with the clip. When you put on a tie clip you have two options, you can simply clip the two ends of the tie together, or you can clip both ends to the shirt. Push the ends of the clip together using two fingers; this opens up the clip so the tie can be inserted. Then place both ends of the tie into the clip. Release your fingers, securing the clip in place. If you want the tie secured to the shirt, simply insert flap on the button-down part of the shirt into the clip with the tie.
