If the same principles for how to quit nicotine worked for everyone, life would be much easier. Despite this, there are a few common tips that can successfully help many kick the habit. Whether the individual is trying to quit smoking or chewing, there are a few simple tips that can greatly increase the odds when it comes to quitting nicotine.

  1. SUPPORT is crucial to quit nicotine. Letting others know that the individual is quitting smoking and asking for help can go a long way. This can also include asking that no one partake in these behaviors in his presence.
  2. BUDDY UP. While support is an important aspect of quitting any kind of nicotine habit, going through the process with another person can give the added confidence and ability to quit. A buddy can be a friend, coworker, or an online partner.
  3. SET A DATE and stick to it. Often it may help writing it down on a calendar with other commitments and/or appointments. Statistics indicate that those who plan ahead and set a date are more likely to quit smoking.
  4. LIFESTYLE CHANGES can not be overstated. Many men may find that quitting nicotine is difficult because it has become so ingrained in their daily life. Avoiding situations in which the person would ordinarily smoke for awhile and changing the daily routine may become necessary.
  5. UTILIZE RESOURCES wisely. Quitting nicotine in any form is not an easy task. Take advantage of tools that may be available, such as patches, gum, and other nicotine replacement products while steadily decreasing usage.
