How To Recognize Pubic Lice Crabs
It is important to know how to recognize pubic lice crabs. It is one of the more common sexually transmitted disease. Little louse in the pubic area cause an itchy allergic reaction while they suck human blood to stay alive. The symptoms of crabs are most often easy to recognize and the actual pubic lice bug is easy to identify.
- Look for any changes in the pubic area. Most people with pubic lice experience extreme itching. The itching is caused by an allergic reaction to the lice saliva as they extract blood from the body. Some people notice blood in their underwear or see red, inflamed skin under the pubic mound. These are good physical signs to be aware of when recognizing pubic lice.
- Identify nits on the hair shaft. Nits are the eggs of the louse bugs. They are left on the hair shaft. Often nits are oval in shape and light brown in color. They do not remove easily from the hair by touch. Instead, nits need to be combed off or scraped off with a finger nail.
- Look for any live pubic lice in the pubic hair. Pubic lice are often called crabs because they look like crabs. They are small six-legged bugs. The first two legs on either side resemble a crab claw. These pinchers are used to hold onto the hair shaft. Often crabs are a blue, slivery color.
- Be aware of other symptoms of pubic lice. It is important to know that pubic lice can also be found in armpit hair, eyelashes, eyebrows, and facial hair. Also know that not everyone experiences itching from the bites. However, some people may feel run down and lethargic from the blood loss.
