How to Record Videos on the BlackBerry Curve

You can capture that perfect candid moment anywhere you are with your phone if you know how to record videos on your BlackBerry Curve. The BlackBerry is the perfect tool for recording videos to post on your blog, email to friends, or save and transfer to your computer. While the BlackBerry Curve might not have the greatest quality video, it is an easy way to capture the moment.

An optional accessory to have plenty of room to store your recorded videos is a mini-SD memory card for your BlackBerry Curve.

  1. Press the BlackBerry menu button. This will access the full menu of apps installed on your BlackBerry. Every BlackBerry Curve contains a video camera to record videos standard as part of the phone.
  2. Choose the Video Camera icon. This is usually a picture of a video camera, but depending on the theme you use for your phone, it can vary. Move your trackball over potential options to bring up the text until you find the Video Camera.
  3. Click the Video Camera icon to open the application. The lens will turn on and you will be able to begin recording immediately.
  4. Press the trackball to begin recording your video. You can start recording with the simple press of the button, but there are a few features you can change to improve the video.
  5. Choose the BlackBerry Menu button once the Video Camera is open. Choose Options from this menu list. A few customization settings are inside the options menu.
  6. Select Automatic or On for the video light (camera flash) if you are shooting in dim lighting. Automatic will turn on when the camera detects low light levels.  On will leave the light on for the entire shooting. Take note of your battery level, leaving the light on constantly can drain it quickly.
  7. Choose a Color Effect for something dramatic. Sepia and Black and White options are available along with the normal color video.
  8. Select Normal in video format to record videos on your BlackBerry Curve that are higher quality. The MMS selection will reduce the quality and size and its purpose is for videos that you will send through MMS text messages.
  9. Under Folder, browse and select your multimedia card (mini-SD memory card) to store your recorded videos. A larger memory card will give you more space for storage, while freeing up the on-board memory your BlackBerry Curve needs to operate at its best performance.
  10. Press the BlackBerry Menu button to Save any changes you have made. These will be stored and saved, but you can access the menu at any time to make changes on the fly.

The BlackBerry Curve doesn't have any sort of image stabilization, so try and use a steady hand to record the most watchable videos.
