Learning how to reduce high blood pressure naturally is extremely important as high blood pressure, also called hypertension, is often the precursor to heart disease and stroke. High blood pressure alone does not have any obvious symptoms, so many people do not know they have this health problem. You will be able to reduce high blood pressure naturally if your condition is mild.

Things you need to reduce high blood pressure naturally:

  • A diet plan
  • An exercise plan
  1. Consult a nutritionist. To reduce high blood pressure naturally, you first need to lose a few pounds and most importantly, you need to aim at trimming down your waist line. Talk to a professional nutritionist so you will understand how to eat a balanced diet with lower fat content and plenty of fiber. Food with potassium will help you reach your goal. This includes peas, kidney beans, cantaloupe, yams and tomatoes.
  2. Be active. One of the most effective ways to reduce high blood pressure naturally is physical exercise. You should have an exercise plan that contains 30 minutes of cardio workout at least five days per week.
  3. Lower sodium intake. Most Americans consume too much salt in their daily diet. To reduce high blood pressure naturally, you will need to cut the average sodium consumption by half. Look out for salty food and use salt-free seasoning in your cooking. Most processed food and fast food contain more sodium than you need.
  4. Do not indulge in alcohol. You may have a drink or two once in a while, but binge drinking will only worsen your high blood pressure. It is recommended by doctors that women can have a drink a day, while men can have two.

Tips:

  • Consult your doctor regularly to see if your high blood pressure is dropping after you begin the home regiment.
  • Relaxing and working less are also effective in reducing high blood pressure.
