How To Reduce Right Upper Chest Pain

Knowing how to reduce right upper chest pain can go a long way to easing the discomfort caused in this region. Although pain in the chest can indicate serious disease and/or disorder, most right upper chest pain is not a life altering condition. However, before learning how to reduce right upper chest pain it may be beneficial to have his physician rule out any possible underlying health conditions. With that being said, here are a few practical ideas for reducing right upper chest pain.

  1. CAUSES. Treating the cause of the problem can not only reduce, but typically eliminate pain. Acid reflux, gas, and indigestion are just a few of the many things that could be causing the right upper chest pain. In this case, the pain will often subside with an antacid or similar drug within a relatively short time period and prevention may be possible.
  2.  RELAXATION. Specific relaxation techniques, such as breathing exercises may be helpful in reducing right upper chest pain. This may be especially so if the pain is a result of stress and/or anxiety. Taking a warm bath and meditating can  also be beneficial.
  3.  INJURY. Upper right chest pain caused by an injury can be remedied with various methods. Applying warm compresses, changing positions, and avoiding strenuous activity can relieve pressure and reduce pain.
  4. TREATMENT. Reducing right upper chest pain may require treatment from a physician. Pain caused by disorders affecting  the nerves, gallbladder, lungs, and some traumas may not be able to be treated at home. Those suffering from excruciating pain that does not go away and are suffering from other signs/symptoms should seek immediate medical attention.
