How To Register Windows XP

Need to know how to register Windows XP?  There are a number of ways you can register the operating system.  You could either call an automated 800 number or you could register it online.  Registering Windows XP online is much faster and easier.  It requires just a few steps and you are done.  The automated 800 number is prone to errors, since you have to dictate the number the registry gives you and this can be quite complicated.  . 

1.  First 30 days.  When you first install Windows XP or run it for the first time it will have a grace period of 30 days before you have to register the operating system.  During the first 30 days you will see an icon in the lower right corner that looks like a key.  If you select this icon it will bring up an register wizard that will step you through the necessary steps to register XP.  You have the option to either call a telephone 800 number or you could register it online.

2.  After 30 days.  Once you pass the first 30 days, you will not be able to use the operating system until you register it.  It is best to register before you get to this point, but if you are at this point it is quite easy to register and start working in Windows XP again.  Once you try to run the operating system, it will say that you have not registered Windows XP and the computer won't let you have access to the desktop.  So, just start on the register wizard and you will find that the steps flow easy and are self explanatory. 

Registering Windows XP is a relatively easy process that takes very little time, so it is recommended you do it immediately upon purchasing your new computer or operating system.
