It is a simple process to learn how to relax abdominal muscles. Abdominal muscles can become weak with age. Exercises suitable for flattening the stomach can make abdominal muscles very tense. Some individuals have no clue as to how to relax after workouts, but relaxing abdominal muscles is a very simple task.
- First you must sit up straight with your back against the chair. Placing your feet flat on the floor, rest your hands on your knees. Remember to always keep your posture in check when attempting any fitness techniques. You will never benefit from the full effect of the relaxation process if your posture is poor.
- Relax your mind in preparation. Close your eyes. This automatically tells your body that is is about it relax. Try not to clench your eyes closed because this causes more tension. With your eyes closed, try to clear your mind of all stress and obligations for just this time. You must allow your body time that it needs to relax with out outside interference or worry.
- Adjust your breathing. Inhale slowly through your nose and hold it while counting to five. Breath out slowly and count to five again. As you breathe, you prepare your body for relaxation. Breath deeply and fully while concentrating only on the present moment. Allow your breathing to become constant and steady.
- Relaxing is actually done by first applying tension. You are now ready to relax your abdominal muscles. As you begin to inhale again pull in your abdominal muscles as if you are pulling your belly button into your spine. Hold this contraction for a count of five, then exhale. This movement completely relaxes your abdominal muscles. Repeat this movement until you feel you are totally relaxed. You will be amazed by the benefits.
