How To Relax

Sometimes you have to learn how to relax.  If you've ever battled insomnia, for instance, it might take some trial and error to find something that works.  For other occassions, you might just need to make yourself relax, such as if you're spending too much time working.

  1. Watch some television and grab a snack.  While you don't want to become a "couch potato," sometimes it's just nice to veg on the couch, watch tv, and grab some food.  Be aware that some shows and movies could do the opposite of relaxing you, such as violent movies as well as others.
  2. Read a book.  Reading is one fo the more relaxing activities around, which is why you'll see it on any (good) source for battling insomnia.  Sometimes your tv or computer can wake you up.  However, with a book, things are different; it may be one of the best ways to relax.
  3. Listen to some relaxing music.  Soothing music is great for relaxing yourself.  You can also couple it with another activity, such as a not-too-intense computer game or a writing activity.
  4. It's in your mind - and your schedule.  A lot of relaxing is psychological.  You might need to let go of your stress in some way, whether it is meditative or found in something enjoyable.  Exercise, health, and other factors contribute to your pscyhological ability to relax easily.  Finally, make time to relax, so you're not distracted with other items.
