You can easily learn how to remove the back from your Frigidaire dryer. Removing the back of the dryer is necessary when replacing parts or during a routine clean. The first thing you want to do before removing the back from a Frigidaire dryer is to be sure to disconnect your dryer from its power source. You can do this by either unplugging the dryer from the wall outlet or turning off the circuit breaker. Dryers run on a 220 volt circuit; performing any work on an electrical appliance while it has electricity connected to it is very dangerous and could cause serious injury or even death.
You will need the following items:
- Six-inch diagonal pliers
- Two-point Philips head screwdriver
- Standard flat-tip screwdriver
- A cup or bowl (to keep removed parts)
Now that you have your tools gathered you are ready to learn how to remove the back from a Frigidaire dryer. Slowly pull the dryer away from the wall. The exhaust piping will probably only have a few inches of slack and you do not want to tear it. The piping is typically secured with a zip tie; this makes it easier to remove and replace. Yours could be secured with either duct tape or screws. If it has a zip tie, use the six-inch diagonal pliers to cut the tie. This will allow you to pull the piping from the dryer and move the dryer out further from the wall so that you have better access to the back.
Notice the area where the cord goes into the back of the dryer. The cord is held in place by a clamp. Take your flat-tip screwdriver and remove the two screws. This will allow the clamp to come free from the back. Next, you will want to remove the screws holding the back itself in place. There are two screws down each side and the bottom. Along the top there are three screws. Use the two-point Philips head screwdriver to remove these.
- Once these screws are removed you should be able to pull the back away from the Frigidaire dryer. You may need to use the flat-tip screwdriver to get started. Slide the back away the dryer. Now you have access to the parts inside of the dryer. Follow these steps and you will know how to remove back from your Frigidaire dryer in just a few minutes.
