If you have fake fingernails and want to go to a more natural look, you will want to learn how to remove fake nails. You do not need to go to a salon and pay to have your fake nails removed because it is very easy to do yourself. When you want to remove fake nails, your instinct will probably tell you to just to start ripping the nails off. However, there is a much easier way to remove the nails that will not damage your natural nails.

To make remove fake nails you will need:

  • Acetone nail polish remover
  • Glass bowl
  • Orangewood stick
  • Toenail clippers
  1. Soak fingers in acetone nail polish remover. You just need to fill the bowl enough to immerse your fingertips in the nail polish remover. Make sure you are using acetone remover instead of non-acetone remover because it will not be strong enough to remove fake nails. You will need to soak your nails for at least twenty minutes, so the fake nails will loosen from your natural nails.
  2. Start lifting the fake nail from your natural nail. Take an orangewood stick and use it to gently start lifting the edge of the fake nail from the natural nail. If you feel pain on your nail when you are trying to remove the fake nails, you need to soak your nails longer in the acetone nail polish remover. You might feel some resistance when you are trying to remove the fake nails, but you should not feel any pain.
  3. Remove any remaining fake nail with a pair of toenail clippers. After you lift the fake nail off with the orangewood stick, there might still be parks of the fake nail attached to your natural nail. Take the toenail clippers and clip off the remaining parts of the fake nail. Make sure you use toenail clippers instead of fingernail clippers when removing the remaining fake nail. Fingernail clipper nail clippers are smaller than toenail clippers and will not be large enough to grip the fake nail

Acetone nail polish remover is very strong, so you will want to remove any rings or bracelets before starting to remove your fake nails.
