Looking for directions on how to remove new wax from a car? If you have previously applied wax to your car, it is highly recommended that you remove the wax before you apply a coat of new wax. It is especially important that you remove new wax from a car if you intend on applying wax that is made by a different manufacturer. While it doesn't happen often, the different waxes can interact with each other, causing some portions of your car to appear dull. You have two main options for removing new wax from a car. You can use dish soap, or you can use a wax remover.

  1. Dish Soap. Dish soap is by far the safest way to remove new wax from a car. Although it depends upon the brand of wax that is currently on your car, liquid dish soap should remove new wax in most instances. All you have to do is wash your car with a high quality dish soap,  and then use water to remove the soap. If you have access to a pressure washer, you will probably experience better results.
  2. Wax Removers. You can also remove new wax from a car by using wax removers. You can purchase wax removers at any auto supply store. If you know what brand of wax is currently applied to your car, it would be best if you purchase a wax remover that is of the same brand. Follow the directions on the wax remover for removing new wax from your car. If you decide to use wax removers to remove new wax from your car, make sure that you carefully read the label on the wax remover. There are some wax removers out there that are also designed to strip paint from a car.
