How To Remove Super Glue From Skin
At some point in life, almost everyone needs to know how to remove Super Glue from skin. Super Glue is amazing stuff and it will glue almost anything back together. The problem is that the glue itself is very runny and it's quite easy to accidentally glue your fingers together or glue yourself to whatever item you are repairing. Luckily for everyone that finds themselves in this situation, there is an antidote: acetone. Also known as fingernail polish remover. If you have Super Glue in your home, you should also have a bottle of acetone or fingernail polish remover. It will save you the embarrassment of having to call up one of your buddies and admit that you are glued to the door of your microwave oven or other household item.
What you will need in order to remove Super Glue from your skin:
- Acetone (make sure if you buy fingernail polish remover to do the job that it isn't acetone-free)
- Paper towels
Be sure that you keep the bottle of acetone within reach when you are working with Super Glue. You'd be amazed at the number of people that have found themselves stuck to something in their home with no way to free themselves. It's only funny if it isn't happening to you, right?
- Get a small amount of acetone on a paper towel and wipe the Super Glue off of your skin. If you are seriously stuck to something with a large amount of Super Glue, you may have to pour a few drops of acetone over the affected area in order to free yourself. The Super Glue will relent its hold over you when faced with acetone, not to worry.
Be aware that acetone can irritate your skin if you have sensitive skin and it's a good idea to wash it off with warm soap and water once you have freed yourself from the sticky situation. Super Glue can be irritating to your skin even if you don't normally have sensitive skin, so it's best to wash the area with soap and water just in case. Also, be advised that acetone will damage plastic, so if you are glued to something plastic, it's best to use the smallest amount possible to free yourself. Acetone will work for Super Glue and most other glues that are similar to it, so if you keep any of them around your house, it would be smart to keep a bottle of acetone around as well.
