How To Rent A Car
If you travel for work or are going on vacation, you may need to know how to rent a car. When you rent a car it is generally best to reserve the car either online or by phone beforehand to ensure that there will be a car available for you, especially during the busy travel seasons or holidays. There are a few things to remember before trying to rent a car. You must be 21 to rent a car. Some places require that you be 25. You will need a credit card to rent a car at most places.
- First, you will want to compare prices. Call at least two to five different car rental agencies. Be specific about the size or kind of car that you want to rent to ensure that you are getting prices on comparable vehicles. Ask for the total out-the-door price to be sure that you get the true total without any hidden extra taxes or fees.
- Call or reserve the rental car on the internet. Be sure to keep any confirmation numbers and the person's name who helped you. If you used the internet to rent a car, print out the confirmation page.
- Call a day or so in advance to confirm your reservations. It never hurts to double or triple check.
- Arrive at the car rental facility to sign the paperwork. When you arrive at the car rental facility, have your driver's license, car insurance information and payment option ready.
When you are picking up your rental car make sure you do a once-over of the car to report any blemishes, marks or dents before leaving the premises. Also note the amount of fuel in the vehicle. Most places to rent a car will do this for you, but to ensure your own peace of mind you should as well. You will be charged for any damage done to the vehicle while you are renting it. You will also be charged for any fuel that is used without replacing it at a premium price.
