How To Replace A Blade On Two Piece Hockey Stick
By keeping some basic guidelines in mind, you can learn how to replace a blade on a two-piece hockey stick. When doing this project, it is important to learn the parts of the hockey stick. The blade is the part of the hockey stick that stays on the ground, whereas the shaft is the part of the stick that the player holds on to.
To replace a blade on a two-piece hockey stick, you will need:
- A heat gun
- A vise
- A new hockey stick blade
- Protective eyewear
- Heavy duty work gloves
- Secure the end of the blade that is not connected to the hockey stick's shaft into the vise, and make sure to tighten firmly. Put on protective eyewear and heavy duty gloves to protect your hands before moving forward.
- Turn on the heat gun, and increase the temperature to 1,000 degrees Fahrenheit. Aim at heat gun at the portion of the hockey shaft that is approximately three inches from where the blade begins. Heat around the entire circumference of the shaft at this point until the glue has loosened to the point of the shaft being able to be removed.
- Unscrew the vise and remove the old blade. Replace with the new blade, and tighten the vise firmly again. Aim the heat gun at the point of the blade that fits into the shaft. Heat until the plastic begins to bubble. Carefully place the shaft onto the new blade. Let the hockey stick rest for at least ten minutes before use.
- Try the new hockey stick out! You'll be shooting goals in no time at all.
