How To Replace A Motherboard
Need to know how to replace a motherboard? You don't have to be a computer technician to do just that. Before beginning, you will need the following tools to help you replace the motherboard.
To replace a motherboard, you will need:
- A screw driver
- An anti-static mat (a place to put the hardware and keep it from getting static electricity)
- Open the case. Before we can replace the motherboard we need to get access to it by opening the computer case. Make sure to easily remove all cables and wires from the motherboard. It may help to keep notes about where the cables and wires go when you go to put in the new motherboard. Some computer aces don't need to note what cable goes where. It is up to you, but we recommend marking where the cables go for future reference.
- Next you will need to unscrew the motherboard from the casing. Make sure you keep every screw and remember where they go when installing the replacement motherboard, and carefully remove the motherboard from the computer case.
- Replace the motherboard. Carefully remove the new motherboard from its anti-static bag and set it carefully in the computer case. Once you have the motherboard in place it is time to screw the motherboard in to keep it in place. Next, connect the motherboard to all the other hardware and then reboot the computer. It should start fine and if you go to look in the BIOS it will show you the new motherboard information. It's as easy as that.
