Equipment you'll need:
- Rappel anchor
- Rappel device
- Rope
- Carabiner
- Read the instructions that came with your climbing harness or speak with a rock climbing expert. Put the harness on and fasten it around your waist, chest and legs. Make sure that all fastenings are secure and snug.
- Find a solid anchor spot and attach your rappelling anchor to this spot using a double knot. Be sure to attach your safety cord to this anchor, ensuring you are safe as you set up any additional equipment. Test the strength and durability of the anchor point and rope.
- Read the instructions regarding attaching the rappelling device to your rope or contact a climbing expert. Use a locking carabiner to attach the harness and the rappelling device, making sure the connection is firm.
