How To Roast Red Peppers
Learning how to roast red pepers will add a little spice (literally and figuratively) to your cooking. Roasted red peppers are easy to store, and make a great addition to pasta, pizza, and numerous other dishes. So, grab a red pepper and get ready to make your meals say BAM.
You will need:
- Red bell peppers

Prepare the red pepper. First cut off the top and bottom. Then slice the red pepper down the center. After pulling the pepper apart, cut out the seeds and the thick white veins. Bassically you're gutting the pepper.

Squish the pepper. Lay the red pepper halves cut-side down. Next smash the red pepper halves with the palm of your hand. This will give you a much easier and flat surface to work with.

Roast the red peppers. You can roast the red peppers in the oven on broil or on the grill.

Remove any black spots. If there is any black on the red peppers, cut it off. You might also choose to leave these roasted spots on your red peppers because it adds flavor.

Store roasted red peppers. Your now roasted red peppers can be stored in a freezer-safe container whole (rolled up), in strips or chopped up. After placing the roasted red peppers in the container, cover them with olive oil. Now freeze the roasted red peppers in the prepared container. Your peppers will stay good for about a year.

Thaw roasted red peppers before use. Olive oil does not freeze hard like other liquids. The best way to thaw your roasted red pepper is in the refrigerator.
