Wondering how to search people on Twitter? The whole point of being on Twitter is to connect with and follow people for networking and information. To do this, you need to be able to find them. It is quite simple to search for someone on Twitter, simply by using your Twitter homepage.

  1. Search people on Twitter by name. Log in to your Twitter account on the web and click on "Find People," which is located in the upper right corner of the homepage. You will be taken to a search box in which you can type the person's first and last name, username, or organization name. Twitter will provide you with a list of the closest matches.
  2. Use email to search people on Twitter. From the "Find People" page, click on the tab that says "Find Friends." Provide Twitter with your email account (Gmail, Yahoo, or AOL) and your password (which they will not store) and it will search through your address book to tell you who is already on Twitter. It can also send email invites to those who are not yet on Twitter.
  3. Browse suggestions to search people on Twitter. Particularly useful for locating celebrities and public figures, use the "Browse Suggestions" tab on the "Find People" page. Click on a topic area and get a list of people who tweet about that topic and have it in their bio. Scroll through the suggestions to find your person.

Tips: Some people may use a separate email account with their Twitter profile. If all else fails, use the email address you have and ask how to find them. People who have a website or a blog will often list their Twitter username or contact information or link to their homepage. Some people may also list their Twitter username on their Facebook page.
