Starting with a proper stance will enable you to improve your serve in tennis and provide a chance to improve your ball toss as well.   1. Get into proper stance. Utilize the general proper stance for serving in tennis. Place your feet about shoulder-width apart with your knees. Watch your feet carefully as to avoid foot fault in tennis.

  3. Position your feet. Allow for variation in your foot position according to your serve. Point your toes in the general direction of the target area of your serve.
  4. Enhance your ball toss. When improving your serve in tennis, it is important to toss the ball properly. Toss the ball slightly to the right of your leading shoulder in front of you. Toss the ball slightly higher than the reach of your racquet to allow for some time for it to fall before your swing.
