The benefits of knowing how to shave your beard can extend as far as your health or getting you that new job. Shaving your beard on a regular basis tells people things about your appearance. A clean shaven face makes you more approachable and is healthier for your skin since shaving is a way you can easily get rid of dead skin cells. Here are a few steps that will help you learn how to shave your beard.

To shave your beard, you will need:

  • Razor
  • Towels
  • Aftershave
  • Shaving cream
  • Mirror
  1. Wet your face for preparation. Apply warm water to your face before you begin to shave.
  2. Apply shaving cream to your face. Squirt the cream in your hands and use your fingers to apply the cream to your face. The amount of shaving cream you use depends on how thick your beard is. Just make sure the entire beard is evenly covered with shaving cream.
  3. Shave in a downwards motion. Take your razor and use downward strokes to shave the hair off your face. Rinse your razor after each stroke you take. This will help prevent any extra hairs from sticking to your face or razor. Shave your chin and upper lip. Avoid cutting yourself with the razor by curling your lip inward. This will help keep your skin tightened and reduce the possibility of cuts.
  4. Wash your face. Use warm water to rinse off any extra hairs or shaving cream that may still be on your face. Pat your face dry with a towel and apply the aftershave.
