How To Shoot A Jumpshot
When learning how to shoot a jumpshot it is important to practice your shooting on a regular basis. Shooting a jumpshot is not something that can be mastered with just one attempt. While you might have a natural talent for basketball, you will not be able to learn how to shoot a jumpshot without practice.
- Shooting the ball. Before you can learn how to shoot a jumpshot you must know how to shoot. The way you shoot can depend on if you are right or left-handed, and also what feels comfortable. You want to guide the ball with one hand, while using the other hand to keep it steady. It's also important to add arc to your shot when learning how to shoot a jumpshot. Shooting it directly at the goal will force the ball to bounce from the rim.
- Jump to your advantage. Once you have mastered the release, you can start jumping into a direction. During a real basketball game there are times where you need to know how to shoot a jumpshot. This might help you get closer to the basket or out of the range of an opponent. Be sure that your jump is controlled. If you jump too wildly then your shot will be less accurate.
- Continue to practice. After you are making a high percentage of your jumpshots, you must continue to practice. Just because you are able to play well now does not mean you will be able to continue to without some upkeep. This is why professional basketball players get fined so much for skipping out on a practice. Even after you have learned how to shoot a jumpshot you need to practice or you will be at risk of losing your new skill.
