How To Shorten A Watch Band
If you've just purchased a new watch, you may want to know how to shorten a watch band. Many watch bands are made a lot bigger than most people's wrists. It can be annoying to wear your watch band too loose around your wrist. However, you can easily learn how to properly shorten your watch band. Save money by shortening your watch band yourself instead of taking it to a jeweler and paying to have it done for you. You can easily remove the extra links to shorten your watch band and have it fit comfortably around your wrist.
To shorten your watch band, you will need:
- A push pin or paper clip
- Your watch
- Determine how many links need to be removed. Hold the watch band around your wrist. Measure and count how many links need to be removed from your watch in order for it to fit comfortably around your wrist.
- Remove the links from the watch band. Turn the watch on its side to locate the small pin holes on the side of the watch band links. Insert a push pin or paper clip into the hole on the side of the link that you want to remove. Firmly press into the hole to release the pin from the watch band. To shorten the watch band, the pins should come completely out of the link. The link should now be separated from the watch band. Repeat these steps to remove any additional watch links.
- Reattach the remaining links together. Fit the end links into each other. Use one of the pins you removed from the watch band to put the watch band back in place by reattaching the new links together.
- Test out your new shortened watch band. Try on your watch to make sure that it fits comfortably on your wrist. If any adjustments are needed, make them as necessary.
