If you have dark jeans that don't quite fit, and don't want to go through the hassle of altering them, then you should know how to shrink dark jeans. Though this is a temporary solution, it is easy and can make your jeans fit you perfectly.

To shrink dark jeans, you will need

  • A pair of dark jeans
  • A washing machine
  • A dryer
  • Detergent
  1. Start by wearing your dark jeans and standing in front of a mirror. Determine how much they will shrink. If you are unsure of how much they will shrink, ask the store where you bought them from.
  2. Now place the jeans in a washing machine. Remember to turn the jeans inside-out before adding them to the machine, to preserve their dark colou. Set the heat setting of the washing machine depending on how much you want to shrink your dark jeans (the hotter the setting, the more the shrinkage) and wash the jeans according to the instructions on the label and add detergent as necessary.
  3. When the cycle is complete, pull the jeans off and inspect the shrinkage. If it is sufficient, run them through the dryer on a "cold" setting (which will minimize any more shrinkage). If they haven't shrunk enough, then run them through the dryer on a "hot" setting (which will ensure that they shrink even more).
  4. The effects of shrinking do not last forever, which is why you will need to repeat steps 2 and 3 every week to ensure that your dark jeans stay snug.
