Knowing how to shrink a shirt is very possible without coughing up more money to replace one. However, a few minutes of working miracles to get your shirt to shrink will save you time and money. Don’t throw away your shirt just yet! Read this article and on to shrink a shirt.

To shrink a shirt, you will need:

  • Washing machine
  • Dryer
  1. Place the shirt in washing machine. The first step to shrink a shirt is throwing it in the washing machine and setting the temperature of the water as high as possible. Another alternative is to shrink the shirt in boiling hot water, pour the water in a metal bucket and place the shirt inside the bucket for fifteen to twenty minutes. This method works well for shirts that are not made of pre-shrunken material.
  2. Dry your shirt. After washing the shirt in either two methods, throw the shirt inside your dryer and use the highest heat setting. You can keep the shirt in for as long for 30 to 60 minutes to get effective results for shrinkage.
  3. Put on the shirt. If you want to make sure the shirt is shrunk, take out the hot shirt from the dryer and let it cool for at least five minutes before wearing it. When the shirt isn't hot anymore, put it on to test out its shrinkage. If the shirt still hasn't shrunk, repeat steps one and two steps again to get the best results.
