Over the years, you may find it necessary to learn how to spice up your marriage. It doesn't matter if you're newly married or have been married for years; everyone hits a slump now and then. However, there are always ways to spice up a marriage and make things exciting again.

  1. Remember the old days. Remember how exciting your marriage was when it was brand new? Think back to those days when you were dating or newly married and plan some events that center around what you did back then. If there was a favorite restaurant you used to like to visit, plan a romantic dinner there. If you met in another city and it's possible to revisit that city, plan a trip. Remember the way things were and trying to act them out again can sometimes be just the thing to add that spark again.
  2. Communicate. Communication is always important in any relationship and can spice up your marriage. If either partner is bored, a little communication can set things in motion to be exciting again. Learn what it is that your partner is thinking and learn to listen effectively.
  3. Try out something new. Maybe you've always wanted to visit a sex toy shop or make love on the beach. These ideas can be exciting or even end up humorous. It doesn't matter which because the important thing is that you are experiencing it together and doing something that isn't the run of the mill evening fare.
  4. Learn to be spontaneous. Sometimes in marriage it can become a planned event from day to day. Learn how to use spontaneity to spice up your marriage. Surprise your partner with a present or an exciting dinner; anything that takes the same routine and turns it into something new and exciting.
  5. Take a trip. If you can afford to do so, take a vacation and spend some alone time in another city with your spouse. Even if it's a road trip to some place nearby, the point is you're in an unfamiliar place and in another bedroom where it can be thrilling just being away from home and every day stress.

One of the most important things to remember is to let loose a little. Learn to get out of the rut and make things new again. Routines can get old and can put a damper on any relationship but with spontaneity, communication and learning to explore new ideas you'll know how to spice up your marriage in no time at all.
